You might not have heard of Pastor Chris Oyakhilome before, but well over 100,000 different people have – for such is the number that attended his latest church ceremony. Yet the stadium for the grand ole service could seat scarcely over 60,000!
The live televised religious event, which occurred on the 7th of May, 2017, was a worship and communion Christian worship service which was held at the National Sports Center in Harare, the capital city of Zimbabwe. The speaker who was chosen to headline the event was none other than the previously mentioned Pastor Chris Oyakhilome. Pastor Chris, both a singer and impassioned master of oratory, gave praise alongside the jam packed stadium in a groundbreaking, record setting and jubilant ceremony celebrating God’s grace.
Chris Oyakhilome, for those whom may not be familiar with the renowned man of the cloth, is a best selling author, public speaker, philosopher, television personality and healing minister who has been preaching the word of God for over twenty five years. Chris Oyakhilome is perhaps best known as the author of Rhapsodies of Reality, the single most widely syndicated and read devotional paper in the entire world which has been translated to over 800 languages and distributed and circulated in over 242 countries. Mr. Oyakilome is also the creator of the Inner City Mission for Children, a faith based and non governmental organization that is dedicated to aiding impoverished children around the world and finding inventive new ways to pull their communities out of poverty. The organization provides food, water, shelter and much needed formal education and family strengthening for the inhabitants of impoverished regions all across Africa such as the street children of Nigeria.
Reverend Tom Amenkhienan, a disciple of Rev. Oyakhilome said of his teacher, just a little before the event at a press conference, “The message from the man of God, Pastor Chris, for Zimbabwe is that this is the time for Zimbabwe. God is bringing His blessings upon this nation and after this service; the man of God is going to pray for Zimbabwe. He comes with the power of the Holy Spirit and with the blessings from God for the nation, which will affect everybody and everybody should be expectant and expect and be ready to receive from God.”
The Pastor’s own message was one of hope and internal transformation, heavily aimed at the youth of Africa. He said, “Young people, I tell you, be proud of Zimbabwe!” It was a heartening message and one that was readily and happily received.
However, Pastor Chris was not the only well known man of the cloth who enjoined the festivities as the stadium also saw various other world famous pastors take the stage, including, Pastor of Christ Embassy Zimbabwe, Pastor Ruth Musarurwa and the musical preachers, Jahdiel, Flames, Israel-Strong and Sister-Wisdom. All in all the event was a huge success and looks to have set the precedent for large-scale religious festivities in Zimbabwe and greater Africa for some time to come.
